Press Release
‘PREVENT HEART ATTACK, BEFORE IT ATTACKS YOU’
An important message for every home through
‘Bypassla Paryay’
A book in Marathi by India’s First woman Preventive Cardiologist
Dr. Pratiksha (M.B.B.S., M.D.)
Can a common man afford 3 to 4 lakhs of rupees for Bypass surgery or Angioplasty? Even in Government aided Hospitals and medical centers, one has to be on waiting list even after paying one lakh of rupees for angioplasty and surgeries. It's shocking, but with the World Health Organization (WHO) having warned that, by 2010, every 4 th Indian is going to be affected by heart disease and by 2015, 60 per cent of World's cardiac deaths will be contributed by India , can these costly invasive surgeries provide solution to this growing epidemic in our country? According to Dr. Pratiksha, chairperson, IPC Heart Care Centre 90% surgeries could be avoided through Preventive Measures and advanced Medical Management along with Arterial Clearance Therapy (ACT) and Enhanced External Counter Pulsations (EECP). To answer all these questions and to create an awareness on Preventive Cardiology and the role of cost effective & non-surgical cardiac treatments to control this silently growing pandemic among the masses , Dr. Pratiksha, India's first woman Preventive Cardiologist and Director of Institute of Preventive Cardiology (IPC) Foundation, a pioneering NGO, has written ‘Bypassla Paryay' a book in Marathi published by Mr. Dilip and Mrs. Rekha Mazgaonkar of Rajhans Prakashan. The book has been penned by Mrs. Mrinalini Chitale and edited by Mrs. Sujata Deshmukh of Rajhans Publication.
More than 5000 patients in India with 80 to 100 per cent blockages, advised to go for Angioplasty and Bypass have been successfully treated through IPC with a success ratio of 90 per cent and 50% of them are post angioplasties and Bypass surgery patients. Even after spending hefty sum of money with a scar on their chests, they were suffering from angina or reblockages. But at IPC, with simple lifestyle changes through yoga, meditation, diet and stress management and cost effective Non Surgical Treatment, they are walking for more than half an hour, attending their offices or taking care of their business and doing their routine activities-in short, leading a normal life. Their past experiences and their improvement with Non Surgical treatments are documented in this book in their own language. |
