The enclosed information pack has been produced to enable you to assess the potential benefits off a non-surgical integrated medical treatment for arterial diseases, such as angina, stroke, claudication (leg pain) and heavy poisoning.

Our Doctors integrate appropriate, timely and effective conventional conservative medicines, combined with alternative, treatment, complementary, natural and nutritional support programmes.

Artery Clearance Therapy (ACT) is an alternative treatment, which attempts to remove the plaque Build up in the arteries. Artery Clearance Therapy (ACT) involves intravenous infusions of Therapeutic doses of vitamins, minerals and amino acids over a 3-6 month period that Gently attempts to "dissolve" the plaque that is causing the narrowing of the arteries, Whilst also helping to reduce the risks due to high blood pressure, high cholesterol and Blood clots.

Clinical Studies have demonstrated that 8 out of 10 patients achieved significant improvement in their condition. Artery Clearance Therapy (ACT) should not be viewed as a panacea, but as a further weapon in the armory to fight arterial diseases

Plaque can be composed off pollutants, heavy metals, fats (cholesterol), blood clotting agents and trapped blood cells. However, the primary cause of the damage is considered to be FREE RADICALS; molecules that attack the inner wall of the artery (endothelium). Plaque ends up sticking to the damaged wall, reducing blood flow.

The therapeutic use off antioxidants, vitamin and mineral supplements as part of a nutritional balanced diet, can help in the prevention of further damage and boost the immune system.

If you would like further information about Artery Clearance Therapy (ACT) and our clinics, or would like to see how we work first hand, please do not hesitate to contact us. Alternatively, if you wish to make an appointment for a medical assessment please contacts your nearest clinic.

Yours sincerely,
Dr. Pratiksha

The IPC Foundation receives hundreds of letters from people suffering from a wide range of arterial disease, such as heart diseases, poor circulation, stroke and many other symptoms.

In an attempt to answer the numerous questions about how ACT works? How much treatment is required? How long will it take? And other question,
Dr Pratiksha M.B.B.S M.D at the IPC Heart Care Center. offers this explanation.

 Arterial Clearance Therapy
One must understand arterial disease affects us all at some time in our life. The three key factors that influence when we begin to have circulatory problem are:
1..
Family Genetics will determine our live expectancy. So if our family has lived to 60-70 years we would do similarly.
2.

Environmental

Air and water pollution will have a detrimental effect upon our health.
3 .

Lifestyle

Depending upon how we live will influence how long
We will live beyond or below our family genetic life

So what is an arterial diseases ?
We have two distinct system in our body that take blood right the way round it. Our arteries take blood that has been pumped out of the heart, enriched with nutrients and oxygen, around the body whilst our veins take the used blood back to the heart, which then pumps across to the lungs. The circle is then completes by the deoxygenated blood returning to the heart.

Unfortunately toxin in our food, water and air supply are also absorbed into our blood causing a biological reaction (free radical damage), which occurs on the wall of the artery causing its special coating (endothelium) to be attacked. Even long-term constipation causes free radicals to be released into our system (3-methyl cholantherene). Eventually your immune system becomes overloaded.

Most damage occurs where the arteries split or branch to form new arteries such as in your neck (carotids), heart (coronary), limbs (femoral) and trunk (aorta).Once the wall of the artery has been damaged fats, heavy metal, clotting agents, blood cells, all sticks to the affected area, The bodies natural repair system then attempt to heal the wounds (lesion) and attempts to form a cap or internal scab consisting of fibrous material (collagen, elastic and glycosaminoglycans). the artery becomes narrowed due to the build up of this plaque, this called atherosclerosis. Doctors say a blockage occurs at around 90% narrowing of the artery. Most people over 40year will have some plaque build-up in the arteries. Our veins do not get this problem as oxygen as been taken out of the blood supply before it reaches our veins. Oxygen in the arteries causes the fats (cholesterol lipids) to oxidize or foam.

So how does artery clearance therapy treat arterial diseases?

ACT is not a cur or panacea, but it can stabilize and even reverse the process for most patients. ACT is not the use of a single drug, but the expert application of theraeutic dosages of vitamins minerals and chelating amino acids together with anti-cogulants , dilators and immune boosters. The treatment seeks to treat safely and effectively the entire process of atherosclerosis.

Free radical damage to the wall of the artery
Further damage is prevented by antioxidants (vitamins such as A, C and E;), which quench and neutralize the activity off the free radicals preventing further Deterioration.

Fatty deposits-cholesterol/lipids
Niacin (B3) lowers cholesterol levels in your blood naturally, whilst ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) quenches cholesterol, preventing it oxidizing.

Heavy metal deposits
Lead, Mercury, Aluminum, Iron, Calcium and all other known metals become pollutants in the circulatory system and the amino acid Di-sodium EDTA is a proven chelator. That means the bonding to that of heavy metal, in the blood stream, and allowing it to be flushed out naturally and safely, by following the ACAM protocol .

Clotting agents
Heparin prevents thrombosis and lowers the effects of increased clotting from Fibrinogen. Aspirin is also proven to be effective in this area. Fibrous growth, this In when the artery stops flexing at the point of plaque build up, Magnesium acts to help restore natural flexing (pushing of the artery) this is inhabited by normalizing the smooth wall of the artery and restoring its natural integrity and permeability. In this way the body's need for the nutrients and oxygen to pass through the arterial wall can be achieved.

Homocystine
A known risk factor is also lowered by the (vitamin B complex, vitamins 136,1312 And133 ).

Lipoprotein (a)
Considered another risk factor but little is yet known, though it is thought to be treated by Niacin, Ascorbic Acid and fish oils. Other benefits of the intravenous infusions (drip) and the oral vitamins supplements are: - High blood pressure-reduced .

Heart –Magnesium known to protect against atheroma.coronary arteries can spasm if magnesium is deficient in the body. Aiding regular heart boosts the high-density lipoprotein CHDL that return cholesterol to your liver, where it is stored or Destroyed.

Antioxidants-Vitamin E particularly has proven to reduce the risk off heart attacks and prevent plaque (atheroma.) Slenium combined with antioxidants decrease platelet damage.

A lot more could be written but in short the body receives a multiplicity of safe effective biological agents that collectively work to reduce the level of atheroma (plaque) and prevent further deterioration, whilst boosting your immune system.

What is the treatment?

ACT comprises the daily consumption of a prescribed course of vitamins, together with a course of intravenous infusions of vitamins, minerals and amino acids (EDTA) given on a regular day patient basis. Each infusion (drip) is clinic and takes 3.5-4.0 hours. Patients attend the clinic either weekly or twice weekly.

How much will I need?

  • Preventive cases.

These are generally people with a known family history of circulatory problem and possibly with some known risk factors, such as raised cholesterol, but as not Yet apparent visible symptoms. These cases usually find 10 intravenous Infusions are adequate

  • Moderate disease.

People with clinical conditions that may lead to eventual surgery, but are presently on a drug regime. As an example these are angina patients who haven't Yet had a heart attack, or diabetics with a claudication condition. In these Instance 20 infusions is usually sufficient, but a longer-term follow up would be necessary to maintain their health and prevent deterioration .
  • Severe cases.

Usually people who have had surgery that as failed them or attempting to avoid of a limb, or are too much of risk for further surgical intervention, the intensive treatment, dependant on their health, is necessary and may require 30 or 40 Infusions over a period of 4months to a year. In all such cases the patient is assessed Before treatment and advised of the recommended course, duration and frequency most appropriate to their problem. Each infusions over a period of 4 month to a year.

Does it work every time?

No. Significant measurable levels of improvement are achieved in over 88% of patients assessed in clinical studies. But not all patients improve sufficiently for them to notice, although biologically the body has been at least refreshed. Happily the majority of our patients do gain an improved quality of life often with increased sensory perception. With more oxygen and nutrients getting through to the system where it is needed, results in a healthier patient.

What can I do to help myself?

During the initial medical the doctor will discuss with you practical steps to improve your lifestyle. Points to consider are :-

  • Smoking
Looking at ways to stop. Each cigarette destroys 30 mg of vitamin C, equivalent
Of one orange and that level has been shown to cut heart attacks by 10%.

  • Weight
Set realistic targets to lose weight. If over weight seek to lose llb per week. Restrict your snacking and convert surgary processed foods to fresh fruit and Vegetables.

  • Exercise
If you are able, brisk walking 4/5 times per week will help improve you Circulation. This should only be undertaken after talking to your doctor. Swimming, dancing any physical activity will help your circulation.

  • Healthy diet
A low fat, high fiber diet is best, with plenty of clean fresh fruit and vegetable Instead of chocolates and sweets, can often improve ones health. cut out salt, Hydrogenated fats and coffee.

  • Alcohol
In moderation, wine can help thin your blood. It may be restricted depending upon your medication.

  • Stress
Seek to find hobbies that relax you talk to your partner about your problems.

  • Vitamins supplements
Do work in therapeutic dosages; seek professional advice on what is best for you.

  • Expert opinion
Seek to understand your condition, take control of your life.

ARTERY CLEARANCE THERAPY
INTRODUCTION

ACT is one of the most important functions taking place in our bodies and that of All living organisms, both plant and animal. ACT is the sophisticated biological processes essential in organic metals (Calcium, iron magnesium potassium and sodium). ACT is the interaction of metals and their innumerable complex compounds that bind together to form ring like molecular structures.

Chlorophyll, the life-giving nutrient for plant is chelate magnesium Hemoglobin in our blood is a chelate of iron, which is why doctors prescribe iron tablets for anemia.

HISTORY

In 1893 Alfred Werner received a Noble Prize for his Pioneering work in developing What is now seen as modern coordination chemistry?

In the 1920's, Scientists Morgan & Drew, first used the Greek word "chele" meaning the Pincer movement of a lobter's claw or talons of a bird to describe the function of metals Binding to form complex ring structures.

Ethylene Diamene Tetra Acetic Acid (EDTA) is one of the most widely used chelators Used by the food, Pharmaceutical and Its is exists in various metal salts, but it commonly seen as a calcium, sodium or magnesium molecule

EDTA was first synthesized by Munz in the 19930's whilst working for the German Giant IGF " to cleanse impurities" and numerous patents were obtained for chemical, Pharmaceutical and industrial uses.

With the onset off World War II, EDTA was tested in britain as an antidote to the threat
of chemical warfare. Whilst in America Kety & Letonoff studied the positive effects EDTA had in treating the liberty ship workers, who contracted heavy metal poisoning, And it is now universally used for detoxifying victims.

Researcher Dr Clark discovered that the older ship workers suffering from heart problem appeared to be healthier. In a 1963 study using EDTA on 283 patients he reported an 87% success rate, which ultimately led to EDTA ACT as a treatment for Arterial disease.

Over 3000 Scientific paper have so far published on the potential medical benefits of EDTA. Sadly the work undertaken over the last 50 year has meant that development By a pharmaceutical manufacturer would be unable to provide a Significant commercial advantage without patents. The issue is more complicated given that today medical Research is expected to compare one drug versus a placebo. EDTA ACT is collective benefit from up to 10 components. What was once seen as strong clinical evidence? From robust patient case studies is now dismissed as inconclusive, where as up to 80% Of modern drug usage have not been proven in the " effective standards of a double Bind trial ". Many heart patients are routinely pre-cribbed 3,4,5 or more different drug That have never been clinically researched in combination be they blood thinners, Anti-hypertensive, anti-cholesterol, anti-arrhythmia

ARTERY CLEARANCE THERAPHY AS A MEDICAL TREATMENT

ACT is an integrated non-surgical programme for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases of our bodies' circulatory system. It incorporates EDTA as a Chelator together with 9 or more therapeutic components that collectively act to remove the deposits that have built up in and on your artery walls.Whilst reducing many of the risk factors that cause the disease through antioxidants, vitamins and mineral supplements.

The treatment has been undertaken for over 35 years in America. Worldwide it is estimated that over half a million patients have received over 10 million treatments from a relatively small group of specialist doctors represented by the American college
for advancement in medicine (ACAM).

A meta-analysis of clinical studies involving over 22,746 patients has demonstrated that
Up to 83% of patients suffering rial diseases of the heart, brian or limbs significantly Benefited from EDTA Artery Clearance Therapy (Ref.1)

Since 1987 the Arterial Disease Clinic Ltd. has worked to the same exacting ACAM Standards and protocols based on safety, efficiency and effectivity with the simple Objective of helping our patients get better. Our Doctors have equally achieved the same success ratio of 8 out of 10 patients gaining real significant benefit. Our clinics were the first in britain to provide ACT for arterial disease.

HOW DOES ARTERIAL DISEASE AFFECT OUR HEALTH?

There are 2 distinct diseases that affect the flow of blood through our arteries:

1. Atherosclerosis (plaque narrowing the artery restricting blood flow).
2. Atherisosclerosis (hardening off the artery wall, restricting blood flow)

Narrowing of arteries by atheroma (plaque) not reduces the flow of blood passing Along the artery but inhibits it permeating through the wall starving key organs of Oxygen and other vital nutrients.

In Britain over 300,000 hospital admissions are due to suspected heart attacks. Angina systems in heart diseases are usually felt when narrowing of the coronary Arteries have no apparent warning. This is thought to be due to high levels of soft Fatty (cholesterol) deposits in the atheroma are unstable than mature hard calcified Scale like deposits. The risk off an artery wall rupturing causing a sudden release of Blood clotting factors (fibrin and thromboytes) to attempt to seal the internal wound is also higher.

It is also true that 20% of people diagnosed with heart problems through ECG or Stress ECG (treadmill) is not found when an angigram is undertaken. Patients are Then categorized as suffering syndrome X

A Transient Isocheim Attack (TIA) can occur if the carotid arteries in the neck are 80% blocked. Stroke is when part of the brains arterial system becomes temporarily Or permanently occluded (totally blocked) due to bleed (hemorrhage), atheroma Or embolism (blood clot created in the heart, lungs or other part of the body entering Into the brain).

Hardening of the arterial also increases the risk of arterial wall rupturing, increased Blood pressure and potential vascular spasms. When the two form of disease are Combined the patients condition is often more severe.

The first signs of arterial disease are often raised blood pressure (hypertension).

In britain 7 million of people suffer from hypertension, half are not o medication.Of those prescribe medication half proves ineffective. The 25% that are initially Helped are cut by 50% within 6 months as their bodies become used to drug and Make its less effective. Stroke risk increases in direct proportion to your blood Pressure (Each 5mmol/hg your systolic blood pressure is raised your risk increases by 16%). stoke is the number one cause of disability in this country.

In simple terms if the nutrients being carried through your arteries can not get to Where they are needed your body starts to mal-function, memory loss, poor Concentration, lack of stamina, increased wear and tear.

WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF ARTERIAL DISEASE?

Our circulation system has around 60,000 miles of blood vessels, Arteries carry Oxygenated blood from the heart around our body, capillaries carries blood between our arteries and veins, and veins take the used blood back to the heart before it is pumped back to our lungs. It is only our arteries that become due to plaque build up.

Our arteries become diseased/damaged as a result of hundreds of different factors broadly grouped into:

1. Genetics-family history is a major factor in identifying your risk of when your risk of when you will develop the disease.

2. Life style the modern western way of life seriously damages our health. A diet too rich in sugar and processed fats combined with little exercise leads to obesity. Smoking, excess alcohol and illegal drug use are reducing life expectancy. Whilst stress is major concern even amongst the health conscious.

3. Environmental pollutants at the work place and in the home are further factors. The common denominator in all the factors is the impact of ''free radical'' cells Triggered as a result of each off the millions of adequately combat or neutralize.

ARTERY CLEARANCE THERAPY

Patients undertaking ACT therapy treatment attend the clinic as a day patient and receive a course off intra-venous infusions of a prescription tailored to their specific condition and health. A patient can attend up to 3 times per week but the majority of patients usually arrange treatment on a weekly basis. The number of treatment is dependent upon the severity off the diseases as a guide, historically our doctors have recommended.

Number of infusions

Prevention: -10
Early Symptoms, such as raised blood pressure.:- 10-20
Chronic condition, previous surgery, heart attack, stroke, or severe leg pain.:- 20

INTRAVENOUS INFUSIONS

Prior to each treatment every patient has their blood pressure checked and asked about their health to monitor any deviation in their condition. Patients should take their medication as normal, although diabetics may be asked their insulin dosage

The doctor on satisfying him that the patient is well introduces a small disposable Needle into a. suitable vein either in the crook of the arm or back of the hand. He then attaches a sterile catheter removing the metal needle leaving a small cannula (a tiny Pliable plastic tube), which is then attached to the infusion.

The infusion is then set to drip by gravity feed into the vein at a safe steady rate. Each intravenous infusion of EDTA ACT takes 3-3 ½ hours to gently run through. Other nutritional infusion can take around 1-½ hours.

The EDTA ACT infusion contains up to 10 active synergistic components, the strength and frequency is prescribed by the doctor tailored to each patient's age, sex, weight, kidney function and condition.

Magnesium Sulphate
Potassium Chloride
Vitamin B1-Thiamine
Vitamin B3-Niacin
Vitamin B5-Pantothenic Acid
Vitamin B6-Pyrodoxine
Vitamin B12-Cobalamin
Vitamin C-Ascorbic Acid
Laxix-A diuretic for heart failure patients and other patients retaining excess fluid or odema . Heparin – an anticoagulant if not on Warfarin.

Most patients experience no discomfort during their infusion, if they do the clinical staff will provide a variety of remedies to aid comfort and relaxation.
Patients mostly sit and chat to their fellow patients, but if they prefer the quiet they read or even sleep.
Driving immediately afterwards normally creates no problems, but some patients have experienced tiredness after an infusion.

VITAMIN & MINERAL SUPPLEMENTS

In removing the fats, minerals and blood clotting factor forming the Atheroma deposits On and in the artery walls, the infusion and oral supplements.

The Arterial Health formula has been specially formulated to provide antioxidants (A,C & E), vitamins, and minerals in a therapeutic oral supplement that forms an integral part of the treatment and MUST be adhered to as part of the overall patient care plan. The supplement also incorporates amino acids and digestive enzymes to facilitate the absorption of the vitamins and minerals.

The doctor recommends the exact dosage for each patient, which is taken with cold water, patients on ACT may taken up to 3 after breakfast, 3 after evening meal. Due to level of vitamin B the patient should see a slight yellow/green discoloration of their urine, if it becomes brighter then the patient is probably not drinking sufficient Water. If a patient experiences diarrhea it may that the level of vitamin C in the Supplement is too high for their digestive system.

MONITORING OF PATIENTS

BLOOD PRESSURE
Prior to any infusion a patient's blood pressure is checked and recorded to ensure a patients well enough for ACT.

KIDNEY FUNCTION
Every 5th infusion tests are repeated to check the kidney is efficiently exerting waste Material satisfactorily through the urine.

WATER CONSUMPTION
The treatment attempts to gently bond on to the deposits in and on the arterial walls and
"Flush" it out through your kidneys and bladder. To help this natural process it is important that patients drink extra fluids, preferably water. Ideally patients should drink
6-8 glasses per day (3-4 pints) especially on the day of treatment.

Patients with prostate problems can be helped with natural supplements to reduce its size and are therefore more able to drink fluids.

MEDICATION

It is important that patients continue with their medication and do not stop even if they
Are feeling better. Any variation in medication in a patient must be reported to clinical
Staff or doctor

Diabetics and Heart Failure patients must follow the instructions of our doctor Concerning possible variation in insulin, diuretics and other medication on days when they undertake ACT infusions.

OTHER TREATMENTS COINCIDING WITH CHELATION

It is recommended that patients should not take ACT 48 hours before any surgery or dental treatment, as there may be a slightly increased risk of bleeding.

FOLLOW UP REASSESSMENT

After the completion of the recommended course of treatment the patient is given an appointment 6-8 weeks later for a review of their condition.

The Doppler ultrasound, ECG and blood tests are repeated together with a medical examination to establish what changes have been detected and how far the patient Can go before systems reoccur.

The Doctor would then make his recommendations on future treatment and how to Avoid any deterioration and possible further improvements. It may well be that patients
Can reduce their medication but it should only be done on the doctor's advice.

MAINTENANCE TREATMENT

The Doctor may recommend that patient can maintain his improvement by attending For a regular "Top Up", dependent upon age, condition and other complications.

Historically the most elderly patients have deteriorated at a faster rate and have benefited from a maintenance infusion on a 12 weekly cycle arguable due to poorer Immune system, increased level of a variety of chronic ailments.

MEDICAL ASSESESMENT

The Arterial Disease clinic's Doctors and consultants conduct a thorough and detailed medical investigation and evaluation on each patient, incorporating past medical history, risk factors, and current conditions and medication.

They then recommend to the patient the appropriate course of action for their condition,
Including lifestyle modification and if necessary variation in their existing medication. If the patient is suitable candidate for ACT , the doctor will recommend a Specific number of treatments.

For those few patients in whom some underlying condition is discovered or requires further investigation that prevents ACT, the clinic will give constructive Advice on how to proceed.

MAKING AN APPOINTMENT

Any one can arrange to undergo a medical assessment; you do not need a referral from your GP. Simply telephone the clinic of your choice for a mutually convenient date and time, the full cardiovascular assessment usually takes a couple of hours. Full detail will then sent to you together with a questionnaire, sample bottle and instructions.

QUESTIONNAIRE

Patients are requested to complete a questionnaire, detailing condition, and medication personal and family history. A stamped addressed envelope is providing for the return of the questionnaire prior to the medical.

MEDICAL ASSESSMENT

The medical assessments for a cardiovascular patient includes the following tests are undertaken. Each test is explained to the patient before the undertaking of the test.

BI-DIRECTIONAL DOPPLER ULTRASOUND EXAMINATION

This is a painless ultrasonic investigation of the main arterial junctions in the neck that feeds the brain and other arteries leading to the legs. It takes up to an hour, and the findings are explained to the patient and recorded on a chart.

The Doppler Ultrasound examination measures:

•  Blood flow, indicating the possibility of deposits in the arteries especially the carotid arteries leading to the brain.

•  Signs of hardening of the arteries, leading to higher blood pressure.

•  The degree off obstructions in the major arteries, causing impaired blood flow in the extremities or overload.

ECHOGRAM

For patients attending our London clinic an echogram may be arranged instead of a Doppler. It is a non-invasive external scan off the heart, neck and limbs. The test can Identify the heart's efficiency; size and any valve defects but cannot measure individual Arteries in the heart. It can identify in the neck and limbs.

BLOOD TESTS

A blood sample is taken to assess and identify kidney, liver, blood sugar and other key factors such as blood cholesterol. The sample is analyzed by an independent laboratory, and reported on.

Non-diabetic patients are required to fast for 14 hours before the blood test. Water may be drunk freely, but not tea, coffee, juices or other beverages. Appointments are normally arranged so that food and drink can be consumed up to 8pm the previous evening. On the day off the appointment, any prescribed medication should be taken with water as normal.

Patients are recommended to bring food to eat after a fasting blood sample has been taken. Diabetics must NOT fast, and advise the clinic of their condition.

ADDITIONAL RISK FACTOR ASSESSMENTS

Additional Blood test to measure ferritin, fibrinogen, lipoprotein a, serum 'E', Red cell magnesium, Homocysteine, Helicobacter pylori and Chlamydia can also be undertaken at additional costs.
Men with prostate problems may wish to consider a PSA test to determine how far it has developed.

KIDNEY ANALYSIS

To establish exactly how the kidneys are functioning patients are required to collect all Urine passed over a period of 24 hours together with a simple blood test. The collection must NOT include the 14 hours fasting period prior to their appointment, but as near to their appointment as possible.

A recommended timetable is that the first urine of the day should be excluded, then all subsequent urine for the next 24 hours collected in clean plastic container (S) provided. For example if the collection starts at 8am the collection process must be followed until 8am the following day.

An appointment on a Friday 12.00 a.m. fasting should commence from Thursday 12 pm
Urine collection starting Wednesday 8 am. Until Thursday 8 am.

Containers should be clearly labeled with the patient's name and stored in cool dark place until it is brought to the clinic at the time of their appointment

It is vital to collect all urine in the period to enable any accurate analysis off the kidney efficiency; a reduced function could result in reduced strength of ACT. The doctors can recommend nutritional supplement to support the kidneys.

RESTING ELECTRO-CARDIO GRAM (E.C.G.)

An electrocardiograph (E C G) determines the condition of the heart and measures its actions and the pumping action (pulse rate). The doctor reports his findings in his medical letter.

Approximately 80% of E C G's indicate nothing significant, but can show when the heart is damaged due to heart attack, have poor nerve stimulus from the brain or Irregularity in rhythm.

VITHALOGRAPH

If a patient's breathing is impaired an assessment off the lungs can be undertaken. It is simple procedure of blowing into a sterile tube connected to hand held machine that can measure and interpret your breathing capacity. From the results the doctor may suggest a chest x ray, if there is any problem.

DOCTORS PHYSICAL EXAMINATION

One of doctors or consultants will conduct a detailed physical and medical examination in order to establish in order to establish the patient's overall medical condition, risk factors and a recommended course off action. The Doctor seeks to identify all conditions which adversely affect your health including, arthritis, asthma cancer, chronic fatigue syndrome, diabetes, hormonal and prostate problems.

A verbal opinion is given at the time of the time of the assessment. Whilst a detailed written report off his findings, together with the blood report is given, usually within 7 working days. Its is recommended that with the patient's specific permission the report be also sent to their GP, especially if the existing medication needs amendment.

To date approximately 90% of people seeking ACT have been accepted on medical grounds. Over 85% have shown significant, i.e. angina reduced, leg circulation restored, mental status benefited, surgery avoided.

MEDICAL REPORT

A typed report is provided usually within 7 working days of the appointment with the doctor's conclusion and recommendations. It will clearly specify:
1. Clinical conclusion
2. Recommended lifestyle modification
3. Treatment from your GP
4. Treatment from arterial Diseases clinic

DO PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES
PAY FOR ARTERY CLEARANCE THERAPY?

Historically yes. All the major companies have funded assessment and treatment. However it is proving to be more difficult to gain individual approval as all private Health claims are increasing with more financial pressure on the Insurer.

Whilst private Health Insurers do not specifically exclude ACT in there Policies it is not uncommon for Insurers to approve the medical assessment but deny Treatment. ACT patients in the USA have even resorted to suing the insurer to Successfully get their insurance benefits. This has not happened in the U K as yet.

IS CHELATION THERAPY AVAILABLE ON THE NHS?

YES for Heavy metal poisoning and Thalassemia through your local NHS Hospital The prescription drug EDTA is the recognized and fully accepted treatment for heavy
Metal poisoning.

Possibly for arterial diseases but not through the NHS Hospitals.
Historically, the Arterial Disease clinic is the only clinic to have gained NHS funding from 29 out of 115 NHS consultant provides ACT for arterial diseases.

CAN I APPLY?

It is dependent upon where you live if EDTA ACT is available for heart disease, stoke and claudication and if your GP is willing to refer your to our clinic.your doctor must write to us, clearly stating NHS Referral, and requesting that we see you as an NHS patient under the ECR scheme (Extra Contractual Referral) or Outside Area scheme. We would then approach your Health Authority on your behalf. However it is not certain the Health Authority would approve, and in many cases the application has
involved long delays even when successful.

The final decision is the Health Authority's but not all accept the weight of international
Evidence that ACT may be beneficial in arterial disease.

The final decision is the Health Authority's but not all accept the weight of international evidence that ACT may be beneficial in arterial disease.

The Department of Heath have requested further UK double blind research, preferring to await the results before reaching a final conclusion, although Baroness Cumbelege Stated in parliament that each Health Authority is free to make their own purchasing Decisions on ACT in therapy in treating arterial diseases.
